At Friction Quartet our mission is to modernize and expand the chamber music experience. We do this through commissioning, performing, educating and collaborating.

We have achieved so much with your help; we have commissioned over 60 chamber works, recorded two full albums (soon to be three!), recorded countless performance and music videos, started a community focused concert series, and engaged thousands of students of all ages with our educational outreach.

We have teamed up with organizations to provide educational opportunities to group as diverse as aspiring quartets to incarcerated populations.

We have an exciting second half Friction Presents Concert Series to look forward to; we just received a large grant to reprise a performance of Comedia by Paul Mortilla and to perform the entire LIgNEouS Suite by Andy Akiho at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in April; and we are preparing the release of our third full length album, with compositions by Michi Wiancko, Andrew Rodriguez, Isaac Schankler and Alex Dowling.
