About the event
Friction Quartet is excited to open their 22-23 concert season with a presentation of music from five living composers. Prominantly featured is Peteris Vasks' expansive String Quartet no. 4. This program, curated by Friction Quartet pairs this long-form work with four shorter selections. Included is a premiere of Geoffrey Gordon's new piece, la terre est bleue comme une orange commissioned by Friction Quartet. Each other piece highlights a composer from the newest Friction Quartet project; the Friction Commissioning Initiative III.
